They are colloquially referred to as &#8216;tube houses&#8217; because of their narrow tube-like shape.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">When spending time in Hanoi or <a class=\"_ps2id\" href=\"https:\/\/xotours.vn\/blog\/how-to-spend-one-day-in-ho-chi-minh-city-custom-itineraries-in-vietnam\/\" data-ps2id-offset=\"\">Ho Chi Minh City <\/a>, you are sure to recognize these unique looking homes &#8211; many of these homes use their bottommost floor as a shop of some kind.\u00a0 Of course, if more living space is needed, the only way to grow is up!\u00a0 And, as Vietnam has a strong culture of multi-generational families living together, 4- or 5-story homes are quite common and some can be up to 7 floors high.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_888\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-888\" style=\"width: 784px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-888\" src=\"https:\/\/xotours.vn\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/tall-tube-houses.jpg\" alt=\"Tube houses can be very tall with more than 3 floors.
